How to Shred and what is Shredding when cooking?

In cooking terms to shred is to cut in to shreds or thin strips.

Shredding can be done with graters (hand-held or box), a food processor or even a knife if you have the time.

Foods you would typically shred: cheese, carrots and cabbages but also kale and other greens and vegetables. Meats you would typicall shred: Pulled Pork and Chicken. Shredded meat is done with forks or specially designed untesils for it.

What is the Difference Between Shred and Grate

The difference between shred and grate is that shredding results in longer fragments, while grating results in shorter fragments.
